The Coalition of Solid Waste Management Providers ( CSWMP) is an organization comprised of sanitary landfill owners and operators that was created in February 2021 with the primary aim of encouraging greater private sector participation in ecological solid waste and disposal challenges.

The main objectives of the CSWMP are as follows:

  • Strengthen the enforcement of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
  • Formulation of policies or system to address the proper segregation of biodegradable wastes, management of COVID-19 wastes, strategies to support the implementation of the Total Solid Waste Management Solution concept, and a mechanism to rationalize tipping fees.
  • Serve as a network of sanitary landfill operators on sharing of relevant information on proper operation and maintenance, raise awareness among local government units (LGUs) including barangays, relative to proper waste disposal and segregation.
  • Strengthen the utilization of the 5R schemes-Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover and Revenue- among the coalition members, apply technologies to maximize waste reduction, and assist LGUs in the creation of clustered or individual sanitary landfills.
  • Strengthen the environmental compliance in the sanitary landfill operators, properly manage and monitor treated healthcare and hazardous wastes, and self-monitor its accomplishments as their own initiative.

Mission

To act as a catalyst in spearheading the solid waste management and disposal endeavors by the formulation of various programs and initiatives that are aligned with RA 9003 and RA 11898 which will cater to the development and availability of sanitary landfills and emerging scientific technologies for the active participation of the local government units and instrumentalities as well as the private sectors towards the achievement of a circular economy

Vision

To be a key player in spearheading the solid waste management and disposal endeavors for the protection of human life and conservation of the environment consistent with the mandates of RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2003) and RA 11898 (Extended Producer Responsibility Act of 2022).
